Light Spring Color Palette: Best Colors, Makeup and Hair
October 21, 2026 · By Nicole, founder of The Stylery Colour Studio

Light, warm, fresh and airy. If you're a Light Spring, your best colors are light, warm and clear, like sunlight on spring flowers. Think pastel yellow, soft coral, candy pink, aqua and light violet against ivory, ecru and camel.
This guide pulls from the Light Spring Complete Guide we give clients after their analysis. It covers your core colors, what to wear in place of black, and how to choose makeup, hair color and jewelry.
Light Spring at a glance
Every season is a mix of four qualities. For Light Spring:
- Undertone: warm-leaning.
- Value: light. This is your strongest trait.
- Chroma: clear, moderately bright.
- Contrast: low to medium.
Because lightness leads, delicacy matters more for you than temperature. A light, gentle shade will usually flatter you more than a dark or intense one, and very deep or highly saturated colors can look harsh on you.
Your best colors
Your core colors are pastel yellow, apricot, soft coral, coral, watermelon, candy pink, violet, light violet, periwinkle, capri, turquoise and mint green.
Your foundation neutrals are camel, light camel, beige, ecru, antique white and bright white.
What to wear instead of black
Black and inky darks tend to overpower light, warm coloring. For your deepest shades, soft grays and blues like moss gray, warm charcoal, ocean blue and light navy work better.
For everyday ease, swap stark black for camel or light camel, and reach for ivory, antique white or ecru when you want a softer white. They keep your look soft and glowing.
For denim, choose light, airy washes: cream, pale and sky washes, and light and medium blue. Skip very dark, black or gray washes.
Color combinations that work
Try the 60/30/10 rule: one main color for most of the outfit, a second for about a third of it, and a small accent in jewelry, a bag or a scarf. Keep contrast low to medium, and every color light and warm.
- Soft coral, medium magenta and antique white: a soft coral coat over a magenta blouse with a cream bag.
- Light olive, light magenta and ecru: a light olive trench over a pink knit with ecru trousers.
- Pastel yellow, light violet and gold: a butter yellow shirt, a lavender bag and gold jewelry.
- Camel, sky blue and bright white: a camel blazer over a sky blue shirt.
Low to medium contrast is your sweet spot. Tonal looks in soft neutrals and gentle pairings of your pastels let you shine, while harsh combinations like black and white can overpower you.
Your palette through the year
- Spring: buttercup, pale lime and aqua with light violet and soft coral, grounded by camel.
- Summer: bright white with turquoise blue, true teal, golden yellow and watermelon, grounded by medium blue.
- Fall: marigold, true coral and tomato red with light olive, deep teal and amethyst.
- Winter: antique white with deep magenta, deep emerald, deep navy blue, navy and deep charcoal.
Fabrics, prints and metals
Light, fluid and soft-sheen fabrics suit your airy coloring: silk, chiffon, fine jersey, fine linen, cotton voile, cashmere and merino. Skip heavy, stiff or very dark fabrics that weigh you down.
For prints, choose light, airy patterns with soft edges: watercolor washes, delicate florals, whimsical motifs, fresh stripes, gingham and small polka dots. Skip dark, heavy or harsh graphic prints, and aim for a print that's mostly your palette.
Your best metals are warm and light-reflecting: clear and light gold, champagne gold and warm rose gold. Soft white gold or light silver can work too. Keep shapes delicate, and try glowing stones like peach morganite, citrine and aquamarine.
Makeup for Light Spring
- Lips: warm brown, warm pink, coral, peach and orange or yellow-based reds.
- Blush: coral, peach, warm rose and pink.
- Eyes: gold, copper, bronze, champagne, rose gold, brown, orange, coral and pink shadows.
- Liner and mascara: brown, bronze or soft olive liner, with brown or brown-black mascara.
For foundation, look at neutral-warm, neutral, or neutral with yellow, golden or peach undertones, matched to your current depth. If the color you see on the surface of your skin reads differently from your undertone, a neutral foundation is often the easiest match.
Hair color for Light Spring
Your most flattering hair color usually sits within one to two levels of your natural roots. For Light Spring, the sweet spot is light, warm and luminous shades such as golden blonde, honey, strawberry blonde, light copper and light golden brown. Skip ashy, smoky and very dark cool tones.
Going gray? Gray and silver hair can look lovely on you. If it starts to feel too cool, a golden, beige or champagne gloss or soft warm lowlights can add a touch of warmth.
Colors to skip, and what to try instead
Cool, deep and overly muted colors can overpower light, warm coloring. Think true black, espresso, midnight navy, cobalt, steel blue, royal purple, wine, dusty mauve, forest, dusty teal and slate.
A few easy swaps:
- Black → camel
- Midnight navy → medium blue
- Burgundy → poppy red
- Fuchsia → medium magenta
Your sister season: Light Summer
Light Spring and Light Summer share lightness as their main trait, so you can often borrow Light Summer's softest yellows and corals when they stay light and warm, like butter yellow, soft peach, light coral, coral pink and warm rose, plus a touch of seafoam and aqua. Skip its icy, grayed side: icy whites and blues, cool grays, slate and dusty mauves. Read more in the Light Summer color palette guide.
